Bobby Jindal visits Punjab – uthhe jham ke bhangra paya!

This is the stuff that dreams are made of…at least the dreams of the Punjabi community in India:

Punjab da munda, pind-ich aya; hore jham ke bhangra paya!

 

Couldn’t resist making this – thanks to the Bobby Jindal story today’s The Times of India. The villagers of Khanpur are finding it difficult to come to terms with Bobby Jindal’s outright denial of his Indian heritage. If only Jindal would arrive in their village and do the Bhangra with them…they’d forget and forgive, I am sure.

Oh…

the translation:

• uthhe jham ke bhangra paya. (there he danced the bhangra with “gay” abandon. oops!)
• Punjab da munda, pind-ich aya; hore jham ke bhangra paya. (Punjab’s son, returned to his village; and then he did the bhangra dance with wild abandon.)
