Parodist, Satirist, Programmer, Artist – someone who likes to take a backseat and watch…that’s who I am.
I watch, exaggerate, twist stuff out-of-shape while keeping it recognizable, add a pinch of salt and a dash of pepper, and create an oddly different yet eerily identifiable version of reality. I call it Salt & Pepper Writing and Art.
I started this blog on the insistence of friends and family, who think that they shouldn’t be the only ones bearing the brunt of my relentless salty and peppery pursuits. I continue blogging in the hope that one day I’d have flushed all this spice out of my system and wifey and friends will finally have a regular Indian man for a hubby or a friend in his stead.
I like to find humor in situations and people, and this is why I enjoy caricaturing people. This of course, isn’t all that I do. I am also proficient in programming and take up programming assignments with equal fervor. I love Bollywood and Hollywood, I like Cricket, and I am reasonably OK with Indian Politics.
Nothing much to boast of. Muddled through 18 years of education. But as wifey says it, “Yahi sab karna tha to padhai-likhai kyon ki?” which roughly translates to “If you had to spend your life doing just this (presumably programming, writing, and painting,) why did you waste those years studying?”
Still searching for an answer to her question. Out of kindness to my Alma-mater(s) I refrain from mentioning their names here.
Chief calls…gotta go!
But you are welcome to hang around, read, laugh, snicker, comment, and if you want to connect directly, email me at artflowsinmyveins–at–gmail—dot—com. I’d love to hear from you.

Your drawings bring a smile to everyone who sees them, I’m sure! I think it’s a great idea to showcase them in your widgets! Great idea!

Thanks Cathy. You mean to say that those widgets are there for a different purpose? I had just wanted to add some color to that drab sidebar, but thanks for pointing it out. I’ll check out the other widgets too.

On your blog those widgets are for no other purpose!

Wonderful post. Mrs. Chaddha chatting with your wife . . . I can see whole the scene — and enjoyed it. Thank you for translating “Ghar ki Shanti.” I shall perhaps learn a bit of Hindi as I follow your writing.

Ghar ki Shanti is the glue that keeps Indian families together. I am glad you enjoyed our little misunderstanding and also that you are picking up some Hindi on my blog, but I am not sure if this is the kind of Hindi you should be learning…but then again, some learning is better than no learning.

I love.. love.. love your blog!!!! The caricatures are beautiful. I am more a potrait and oil painting gal. But these are brilliant. I tried my hand at caricature… but to my unsurprising self, it wasn’t a success. Brilliant use of sattire in your writing 🙂

Thanks Ishita. I think our experiences make us cynical and cynicism leads to satire…there’s a fine line between the two – and I hope never to cross it. Didn’t see your portraits at your blog…I’ll have to revisit soon.

Hi. A truly entertaining introduction! On one of your posts (I forget which one), you mentioned that you are a programmer who works from home. Are you a freelancer or a telecommuter? Where do you work? If you don’t mind, could you tell me if you love/ like programming or do it because it pays the bills?
Please note – I’m not a stalker! One of my best friends is interested in switching from the IT field to something less…harrowing. I am trying to look out for her by seeing which options she could explore. If you feel uncomfortable sharing details here, please drop me a mail at shaikhmahevash@gmail.com
Hope to hear from you soon. Good day!

Thank you Diya. I’ve no idea how to respond. I wish Anandhotep were here. He’s the guy who usually ends up with all the credit, so he wouldn’t be all tied up in a knot, wondering what to say…perhaps just thank you for improving my day many times over!
