The QSM Magazine Issue #3 – The Indian Wedding Special!

In the upcoming issue we lose ourselves in the  the biggest, the grandest, the sparkliest, the loudest wedding in the world! Here’s a short definition of this magnificent event.

Indian Wedding – A Definition
The Indian wedding is a fine-tuned but bug-riddled event in which two strangers become life partners; and which when successfully concluded, marks the biggest milestone in the lives of Indian parents.

I’ll let the cover do the talking.

The QSM Magazine - Issue 3 (fourth 4th issue) of India's best humor magazine - read parodies, satire, drama - Indian weddings special

They say don’t judge a book by its cover – but that’s how the story of an Indian wedding begins, by judging someone by his or her picture – and quite often it succeeds. The way it succeeded for Mom and Dad. According to Mom, “You can’t ride a potholed road together in a bullock cart and not fall in love with each other.” (Disagreeing with Mom doesn’t take you anywhere, so whenever she says this, Dad and I just look at each other and shake our heads.)

An Appeal to all my Dear Readers:

If you’d like to help a fellow blogger follow his dreams, do tell your associates about the magazine. Here’s a smaller image of the newest issue for you, which you can use to help me row the QSM boat.

Even tweeting and sharing this post could help and I’ll appreciate from the bottom of my Indian heart.

Anand and his ancestor, Anandhotep, are hilarious. He is the first blogger I followed. His programming job sometimes keeps him too busy to post regularly, but the wait is always worth it.

Check out both his blog, read his QSM magazines, and enjoy the laughter.

Congratulations, Anand. And I love the new head piece you are wearing for the wedding. It has that necessary flair.

Thanks Oneta. They are easy to find, especially during the wedding season. They are usually worn by the close male relatives of both sides (it’s a way to mark them apart, so that everyone else knows who they are.)

Had no idea they were functional. Do the colors signify the side of the family? I know you are busy but this might be an interesting bit for a blog. Or maybe it is in the upcoming wedding magazine and I’ll find out soon enough. And your term “wedding season” piques my interest also.

I don’t think that the colors depend on the side, except that the pagdi (that’s what the headgear is called) should be pink (but I’ve seen other shades of red too.) Wedding season piques your interest? It makes me want to run away from Delhi and go hide in a cave. More on it in the magazine 😀

Thank you, Piyusha. The reblog is much appreciated. I intend to start illustrating the stories today. Fingers crossed. I can come up with some extremely disturbing funny pictures!

Oh Oh! Am excited to see what you come up with, including for my article.
Can’t help but feel pity for those four types now. 😉 Wonder what the hunks will look like in their ‘untouched’ pics 😉 😀 😀

  6. Sounds like fun! Attending a “real” Indian wedding is on my bucket list! A friend recently posted a wonderful video of her daughter’s wedding right in my city, complete with white stallion and beautiful ritual, but, alas, I don’t know her well enough to have been invited.

  10. Can’t stop laughing by seeing expressions you have sketched for bride and groom. Last week attended my cousins marriage and they had similar expressions. Bride and groom all exhausted by hoopla of Indian wedding while guests (including me) had great time. 🙂
Congratulations and all the very best for latest issue of magazine.

Welcome here, Liz. Glad you liked the drawings – sometimes I too wonder if I did them, but I have a faint recollection of thrashing about and trying to escape while being forced to draw – so these may have been mine. Anandhotep anyway cannot do anything except bark orders…so it definitely must’ve been me.
