3 Quotes – 3 Caricatures – 1 Subject: Women.

This one’s for Jacqueline, she asked me to write it. (She had tried to help me by buying a couple of my relatives for $1.50 each, and so I just couldn’t bring myself to say no to her.)

Here are three quotations that I chose for this post.

Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.
Mark Twain

As a parodist and a caricaturist, I couldn’t agree more. If people around me didn’t do the things they did (observable facts) I couldn’t spice them up for you. I’ll take the example of this caricature of a sari-clad Ms. Hillary Clinton that I did for the current issue of the QSM Magazine.

Caricature, Cartoon, Pen Drawing of Hillary Clinton - If she were an Indian Politician and wore Sari (election campaign)

An Indian Hillary Clinton – Requesting your Vote.

Note that it was her real face and personality that brought about this caricature and the related article. Exaggerations and distortions don’t exist in a vacuum – they are based on facts – and if you don’t know the facts, you can never distort them convincingly.

Awesome observation, Mr. Twain, Sir.

Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes.
Jim Carrey

At this point, I am forced to share the caricature of Salman Khan. (Before she met me, wifey was in love with him, but that is now an old story – mitti pao! (let’s bury it!)  I caricatured Salman Khan last year (around the time Big Boss 8 was being telecast.)

Caricature Cartoon Drawing Water Color effect of Salman Khan Bollywood actor and Bigg Boss Host.

Salman Khan looking dapper as the Bigg Boss 8 Host.

Most Indians (with Mom being one of the rare exceptions, who thinks that regardless of all his other achievements, a bachelor can never be called successful,) would agree that Salman Khan is an extremely successful man, and that behind him, there’s a long line of women still rolling their eyes. There’s a long line of women in front of him too, but they are fluttering their eyelashes hoping to become the one who gets to roll her eyes behind him all his life.

Jim Carrey has rolled an excellent point into a tortilla.

A woman’s mind is cleaner than a man’s: She changes it more often.
Oliver Herford

I am not going to ask how Mr. Herford arrived at this conclusion, but the fact that my life (as a householder and also as a blogger) is ruled by women, makes me think that he is absolutely right – they do change their mind more often. (For the sake of consistency, I am going to present wifey’s sketch from the first Issue here.)

Cartoon Caricature Pen Ink sketch of Anand's Wifey - The QSM Magazine Issue 0, Humour, Parodies, Satire, jokes etc.

Wifey Giving me that Look.

Wifey changes her mind at least three times before she decides upon the breakfast menu, the dog changes her mind more than three times before she decides between barking and biting, Mom changes her mind eighteen times when she decides upon the budget for Honey’s wedding (No…don’t get me wrong, Dad isn’t getting married again, Honey is my cousin’s name – the one who has chosen a South Indian munda for herself.) But the worst is when a visitor changes her mind a dozen times before she subscribes to the QSM Magazine.

(Oji, munda means boy.)

The way you merge the ‘great Indian family’ with worldly affairs and notions, is what I would call ‘masttt’.

  4. You are one talented, crazy guy 😂😂. I think I am going to make a portrait of Hillary and keep it to send to her just in case she wins. I love wifey but you need her to keep rolling her eye’s at you. Now between mother dear and Miss Doggy I don’t know whose case of indecision is worse 😃
    Brilliantly executed!!

Okay!! So I finally did subscribe. I am sure reading QSM will be like reading your blog, only better. I love your caricatures, and if you’ll not humour and laugh it away, may I have the honour of hosting an interview with you sometime on my blog?

Thank you, my whimsical visitor. I wish wordpress hadn’t gobbled up the second half of your comment…but such is my luck. Whenever anyone says anything nice about my blog or me, forces of nature ensure that it doesn’t reach me.

If your picture is any indication, your wife is quite lovely. You’re a lucky man to have such a good wife.

Thank you, Tim. She wouldn’t have allowed me to put her caricature in the QSM Magazine if I hadn’t made her look pretty…but to be honest, I only made minor improvements.
