A Full Course Dinner, Blogging Etiquette, and Visiting Friends.

A Post for my Fellow Blogging101 Participants:

Until now, I’ve never had the stomach for a full course dinner. I am more of a Chhole-bhature and Rajma-chawal kind of guy. Pile it all on a plate, stick a spoon into it, and hand it over. I’ll wolf it down with gusto. But drop me in a seat at a dining table, ask me to tuck a napkin into my shirt, and make me participate in polite conversation while we wait for the Hors d’Oeuvre….

Vrrrroooooommmm….I’ll be flying out of the window on a broom you never knew I possessed.

When I had enrolled for blogging101, I had expected a plate of Rajma Chawal. Now I know that I am in for a full sixteen-course dinner, which is great, because that’s the best way of doing things. Unfortunately, I keep flying in and out.

As I said, the course is great, but you can stick peacock-feathers in the tail of a pigeon, play  Lambada music, and yet you can’t expect him to start dancing like a peacock. (If you missed it, I am the pigeon here.)

And yet, despite my wanderlust, I’ve managed to do more than my assignments so far. I so enjoyed our assignment today that I visited a dozen blogs and marked them with a comment or two. (I picked up this figure of speech from my dog. Please don’t go back and sniff your blog to confirm – I’ve marked them the way humans do, by leaving un-sniffable comments.)

So far, blogging101 has been unmanageable for me but nice…I was suffering from the frog-in-the-well syndrome, but the course has introduced me to some great bloggers who run some of the coolest blogs without losing their cool, and now I am looking forward to completing the course successfully.

Bye, but before you leave:

A glimpse into my most recurrent nightmare:

Me: Where’s my broom?
Wifey: Oh…I used it to clear the cobwebs.
Me: But where is it now? I need it.
Wifey: It wanted to be free, so it flew away!

I enjoy this post and you have so beautiful expressed about your blogging experience. The comment about dog(marking territory!) and the last snippet are so beautifully that I am still smiling and wondering at amazing talent you have 🙂

Learned that one from my dog and her friends. That’s a fab way of communicating – and it keeps their messages safe from the meddling humans.

Anand, coming from you, it’s huge. You write fabulous posts, you are a blogging inspiration to many of us. Thanks.

Welcome Anand. Thanks for your kind words and I feel good humorists like yourself are good observers of nature and animalia around them. I asked you a question on commons..maybe you missed it. I wanted to know who your favorite authors are? Have you read Wodehouse or Pretchaat. In other words where do you get your inspiration from? I remember answering that one. What happened to it, I wonder. I’ve read a couple of P.G. Wodehouses but have no idea who Pretchaat is, except that my mind that’s trained in malarkey has already translated it to Pret + Chaat or “Pret ki chaat.” Anand, I think I am losing it!

No, I enjoyed your take on Pretchat. I haven’t read any Pretchat either but Wodehouse’s Jeeves series is a lot of fun and his fiction is always ‘feel good.’ 🙂 Glad you have read Wodehouse. Is there any favorite of yours?

No recollection of the titles. I must’ve been 12 or 13 when I read them…still got to check out Pretchaat…

  2. Well written and humorous (but doesn’t that describe all your posts).

As I experiment with writing in my blog, I have actually had the audacity to try humor in a few of my blog posts. I must say, after reading your posts, I am in half a mind to remove those blogs unworthily tagged under humor. What was I thinking?

I have so much to learn. I have my eyes on you *gives a creepy stare as I walk away*

I will be ready for a full-course when my college courses are over (one more day of class)! Until that time, I will enjoy other people’s blogs (such as your blog).
I am so impressed with your artwork. What do you use to make the portraits?

Looking forward to learn more from you. Also, I saw you mentioned at one of the comments that you were “retired”. Well, am I followed by a young entrepreneurial billionaire??!! haha…jokes aside, great going fellow blogger.

  7. All too sad when the maiden broom leaves home. I lost mine very early on in life, and many people consider me friendly. I wish they knew what I was destined for.

I too was expecting Blogging101 to be a plate of Rajma Chawal. Instead, it turned out to be a daawat! 😀

I love your sense of humour! I hope you fly in more often on your broom so that we can enjoy more posts written by you!
